Autumn Term 2011

We’ve had a fairly busy term on the KEHS PA. The 1st meeting of this academic term was held in September – the second meeting without Miss Evans present as she was on her sabbatical. The previous meeting in June had seemed really strange without our Head, but Susan Pallister held the meeting together beautifully. Minutes of the previous meeting were discussed as were the up and coming events such as the New Parents’ Social Evening to be held in October & our annual family Quiz Night in November along side other items. The New Parents’ Social Evening went very well. It is an opportunity for new parents to meet each other & key members of staff – it is not an occasion where the child’s academic progress is discussed. Firstly, the parents met Miss Warne & Mrs Smith in the lecture theatre & then they came down to the Hall for more informal mingling & refreshments. The hot samosas went down a treat! The second KEHS PA event was our first fundraiser of the term – the family Quiz Night held on Friday, 18th November in the School hall. This was quite a successful evening with most PA members helping out & we had a good turnout – almost 80 people took part in the quiz. One table was exclusively just under 18s, although there were others dotted around helping out the adults! We had a new Quiz Mistress this year who made full use of the computer in the hall & the screen (which KEHS PA provided a couple of years earlier from funds raised at our events). A ploughman’s supper was provided & a good time was had by all. We will be serving refreshments at the evening Carol Service on Wednesday, 14th December at Edgbaston Old Church. Our next KEHS PA meeting is due to be held on Monday 30th January 2012. Looking forward, we have Mumbai Dreamz on Friday, 24thFebruary, 2012 which is usually good fun. We serve Asian food, good entertainment, hold a sari tying competition & have a stall applying henna designs (hugely popular). During the Summer Term, KEHS PA run the barbecue stall atthe Summer Fete selling good quality meat burgers, hot dogs & vegetarian burgers which are enjoyed by, not only our girls, but the KES boys too! We look forward to welcoming you to our future events!
